	Val began making bird houses and garden art from old, recycled wood approximately 8 years ago. At the time, we lived in California and our Church held a Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair. We found some old fence wood that would have been taken to the dump and some fallen tree limbs and started making birdhouses. Val has also made many potters benches, planters, and garden benches, most of it from recycled wood.

	We have almost 14 acres in the Carlsborg area that affords us an endless supply of dead trees, all kinds of moss, pinecones, etc. with which we make our log birdhouses. Some are made specifically for birds, and some, as Val says, "For people who have cats" - or for people who want a birdhouse but don't want to attract birds because of their cats. :-) So, we make several kinds of decorative "no-bird" houses. We also make to order large gate/post decorative bird "houses." We were very flattered when the Sequim Gazette did an article on us after we participated in the Sequim Soroptimist Garden Show.
