Beaded Jewelry

Beads by Bunny
This double stranded necklace is made out of volcanic jasper, accented with smaller, round leopardskin jasper stones. I received the bigger volcanic jasper stones as a birthday gift, when my friend Terry watched me pick up the strand several times and put it down again. She thought that since I kept picking it up, I must have really liked it, so she went and bought them for me when I wasn't looking. I didn't have any idea at all on how to use them, since the stones are fairly large. They stayed at my beading desk for several months before I finally figured out how to utilize them, and I really think they turned out stunning. I make this necklace usually with a double strand, but I have also made it in a single strand for those ladies who don't like too much weight around their necks.

I created this necklace out of amethyst, with acrylic leaf shaped beads purchased all the way from China. My daughter initially bought 5 leaves for me that were sky blue, and again I had no idea what to do with them, and kept working with them and came up with this design. I set it up on display, and it sold almost immediately. I knew it was a hit. So, it was a real surprise when I tried to buy more, and it took me two whole nights on the Internet trying to find more to purchase, and when I did, I found there several more colors to get. Now I have sets made in lavender, yellow, pink, moss green, white, and fuchsia ~ almost all the colors in the rainbow.

Beaded jewelry (necklaces, earrings and bracelets) using gemstones, freshwater pearls, shell, glass crystals, etc., and wire.

Sitting at my station, I look at my colors before me and I go from there. I usually have no idea what I will make until my jewelry item is finished.

I like to mix different kinds of beads together to create an unusual effect. Since I don't use patterns, no two items are exactly alike.

On a personal note, I was born and raised here in Sequim, attended Sequim schools and graduated in 1971 with 12 years perfect attendance. I currently work at Olympic Peninsula Title Company and have been there now almost 20 years, and I see a lot of familiar faces at the Market. I have been married to my husband Fred for 32 years now and we have 2 adult children named Mark and Julie. My husband is completely disabled, so between working full time, taking care of Fred, plus designing and selling jewelry, I have a very busy schedule. But I love creating beautiful, sparkley things, and it basically is a wonderful therapy for me.

I have been making and selling jewelry since 2003. I was bitten by the beading bug for my birthday present and haven't stopped since. I am a total beading addict, and it doesn't look like I'll be stopping any time soon. As you can see by the photo at bottom right, which was taken at the Port Angeles Farmers' Market last summer, I have quite an inventory. All of my creations are unique, usually one of a kind, and I never use a pattern. Most of the time when I sit down at my desk, I have no idea on what I will be making. It's usually a surprise! In addition to necklace/earrings sets, I make bracelets, beaded watches, eyeglass chains, and on a unique note: Mom and dog matching sets ~ the doggie tag matches the mom's earrings. I also have a rack of cellphone charms. My next idea I'm working on is called "Manly Gems", which will be necklaces with the man in mind.
